Our Role

Tennessee wine and spirits wholesalers are essential to ensuring the safe and responsible use of beverage alcohol across the state. We comprise the second tier of the “three–tier system,” which was established by the 21^st Amendment of the U.S. Constitution in 1933 following the repeal of prohibition. The three-tier system:

• Drives competition for better products and pricing
• Provides a controlled environment in which to monitor this highly–regulated product
• Protects the public from the consequences of irresponsible sale of beverage alcohol
• Offers consumers more choice
